A fast car for under $25k.

Buying a used car is unsafe, especially if it's turbocharged. Engines are mostly raped on those cars, and cosmetics are even worse. I was looking at this EVO 9 MR that I was thinking to buy. Used, $13k, 55k miles. Rear diffs were blown, front body was horrible (not stock). BBS rims were replaced with some fakes, and the stock Recars were replaced with EVO 8 Recaro, which is probably the ugliest Recaro seats ever. But then what should you buy? A brand new Evo? Of course not, it costs well over 35k, just like the STi. S4? Not worth even thinking of. TSX? If you have extra 40 grant to spend, then it's a perfect car. But this is about fast cars for under $25k. Here are couple that I found:

1. Subaru Impreza WRX

Price: $25, 495
Does an average of 22 MPG
AWD, Wide body, Turbocharger, Stereo
265 horsepower Boxer engine.
This car is probably the best in the list. It's AWD, Turbocharged, and above all, it has all the comforts of a regular car. It's a little over 25k, but it's better than nothing. It's safe, it's fast. It makes a perfect track car.

2. Honda Civic Si

Price: $24, 955 maximum configuration
It does average of 25 MPG
It has a 199 hp VTEC engine with a redline of 8000 rpm. Unlike the WRX, this is only FWD. It's not faster than the WRX, but around some corners, you might be getting out quicker just because of the high-rev VTEC. The max configuration offers you boat load of features, such as Satellite Navigation.
It's under 25K, it does pretty high avg mpg, what else do you need from a car?

3. Mazdaspeed 3

Price: $23,340
Does average 21.5 MPG

  • 263-hp, 2.3L DISI turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. Unlike the WRX this is FWD, but it's on the same level as the WRX. In fact, in the last battle between WRX and Speed3, WRX lost. The only advantage it had was AWD, but even with that it couldn't tackle the Mazda around the corners. We'll see what the new WRX has to offer.

4. Scion TC

Price: $18, 800*
This baby does 27 avg mpg
It has a 2.5 liter I4 2AR-FE engine producing 180 hp. It looks more like accord. It doesn't have much options yet, because it's brand new. It's not the fastest in the list, although after couple add-ons, this baby will smoke everything on it's way. It costs 18k, and drop about 7k on top and you got yourself suspension and turbocharger.

5. Volkswagen Golf GTI

Price: $23,664
Does an average of 26 MPG
Has a 147kW 2.0 litre turbocharged V4 engine. If you read my older posts, you would know that I hate VW's. This one is probably the worst of all, but it got into the list just because of the price. Yes, it does have a 2L T V4. So what? It's extremely underpowered. It has a redline of just 6100 RPM. It looks just like every other golf, it's small and ugly, and after all, it's a VW.
